no fun

It's no fun when the innocents are running fevers

It's no fun when little ones are exploding with sneezes incessantly

It's no fun when they cry just because they're miserable

It's no fun when mom and dad are sleep-deprived and achy as well

Until next time..... we'll be going through boxes of Puffs like crazy

Holy Zucchini!

Nick's grandparents have asked us to watch over their garden while their gone. This means that Emily will be making LOTS of salsa and LOTS of zucchini bread. Here is an example of one of the monster zucchinis that we pulled from the garden this afternoon. I think I could get at LEAST four loaves of bread from this sucker! How many do you think? A prize for the winner!

When a 3 year old plays with your camera?!?!

Need I say more? And the reason that I know it was my 3 year old, is because he mistakenly took a picture of his own foot! I would know that foot anywhere!!! HA HA HA... because I am mom, and I know everything! (Although I guess I don't know when my kids are playing with things they shouldn't..... but daddy was the one in charge when this crime was committed.)

Why in French?

Okay, so I read this book years ago and it was.... well, for lack of a better term, GRIPPING! So I then notice that they are making it into a movie... and I'm so excited.... that is until.... I find out it's in freaking FRENCH! C'mon England, Hollywood, someone?!?! Catch on and make a GOOD movie! It's been a while, don't ya think?

Pioneer Day

all that I can say about today is CRAZY and TIRED

This brainy idea came into my head that I would sell stuff outside our house since we live on a busy corner and a VERY BUSY SPOT for the Pioneer day celebration. There is a parade in the morning, followed by an all-day fair and ending with nighttime fireworks.

We sold soda pop, water and candied popcorn (and our parking spots). We made about $140. Not too bad for sitting outside all day with friends.... chatting away and BBQing.

the kids played with their neighbor friends all day long... swimming and coming up with all sorts of make believe

during fireworks, I held Mason on my lap while I continued to sell stuff with one free hand. (Nick had to go to work) Then Sean came over and laid his head in my lap while standing next to me. He also fell asleep and it grew difficult to take care of "customers" Here are BAD picture of the fireworks.... but hey, they're taken right from our front yard... NOT too shabby. They set them off just across the street

Business was good, kids were tired. Luckily, my kind neighbors helped me bring sleeping kids/stuff in the house.

I traded some glow necklaces for a Mountain Dew. I traded a clown some water for balloon light sabers for my kids. I traded this cute necklace for a pop and popcorn.

Happy Pioneer Day!! (a Utah state holiday for the non-Utards!)

summer storms

The clouds opened and showed us their fury. With thunderous rain and bolts of lightening the kids played in the rain.

Then.... the clouds dispersed and the sun shined forth bringing with her the HEAT we've become so accustomed to!

Rolly Pollies

I just love finding my boys playing happily.... I love them soooo much!!!!

when a 1 year old plays with sidewalk chalk....

Our new table

Costco finally had the perfect table. I've been looking for a new kid table to fit our needs for a few years. When I saw it today at Costco, I was like... "THIS IS IT!!!" The boys are happy about it too!
A big THANK YOU to my mom and Uncle Wilbur and Aunt Anne for this wonderful gift to our family!!! We love you!

a tuesday take II

I brought Cooper to swim lessons today... and no one was there! I totally got the wrong day.

Cooper and Sean went and played at a friends house for a few hours.

I spent most of the day in the kitchen.... I made zuccini bread, 2 batches of apricot jam and french bread. I also worked for 4 hours. I'm exhausted!

After dinner, Mason found the butter and decided to butter his own bread... among other things.

Happy Birthday to me....

Today was normal..... hhmmmmm not really a birthday kinda day.... but just typical. I took Cooper to Swim lessons, lunch at the park, work, cleaning, etc etc. Nick and I were able to steal a few hours to go and see the new Harry Potter movie which we both enjoyed.

Couldn't resist taking a picture of this coffee shop called, "Jack Mormon Coffee Co." Once again... I had one of those "oh yeah, I forgot that I live in Utah" moments.

But the highlight of my day was going with my friend Teresa to see our friend's new twins at the hospital.... OH MY they are sooooo cute. Samantha was 5lbs 3oz and Lance was 6lbs....

How could I NOT get baby hungry on a day like this? One year older... two little bundles of joy...

This place is therapy for me. Running my fingers through this sand and water is soothing and cleansing.... I love it more than the kids.... and it's a great exfoliater!

nada mucho

Today was so incredibly normal.... we had Hootinanies for breakfast (oh my! Look at all that butter! and not my dirty oven). We brought Nick lunch at work and hit the park for free lunches. The boys played in the dirt while I shot the breeze with Breezy (a friend). Then the mud-caked boys and I hit the grocery store, where their day was made because there was a "car-cart" available. I was so embarassed because of how dirty my kids were! Upon arrival at home, baths were necessary. I spent the rest of the day working, doing laundry, changing bedding, making whole wheat bread and cleaning up.... Now I'm ready for bed! O-ya sumi nasai!
