Broken

random memory came to me today (5/15/11)

I was at a young women's activity. I don't remember what we were doing, but I was washing dishes in my leader's kitchen. She had some figurines on the window sill over her sink. I don't really remember how, but I some how nudged the blinds enough to knock one of the figurines down. It fell and broke. I looked at the break and noticing that it would be easily fixable, I put it in my pocket. I thought, I'll fix it and put it back and she'll never know.

When I got home, I asked my dad for help. I felt like I had done something wrong and it was quickly pointed out to me that I should have told her what happened instead of trying to save myself by fixing it secretly. My parents helped me glue the piece back on and drove me to her home to tell her what I had done.

I remember feeling scared and nervous. I told her what happened and she was so sweet. She said that she noticed it was missing, glad it was back and simply said, "I love people, not things."
